Spread the love

Can you believe we visited Design Days Dubai a whopping 3 times over the length of Art Week Dubai? We were shocked ourselves, but this year this annual product and furniture design fair pulled out all the stops, meaning it was too hard for Saffron Souk to resist another little visit back for a spot of inspiration…

2. – 4. Dubai Culture we can’t thank you enough – this years Design Days Dubai brought a host of talented artisan and deign products, all wrapped up with some inspiring people that were more then willing to chat to a couple of team saffronsouk.com people, that no doubt were asked far to many silly questions.

5. Dubai based Nakkash Gallery once again proved that tactile furniture elements caught our attention! We loved their tongue in cheek pieces from Design Days Dubai 2014.

6. Gallery Fumi London – we just wanted to touch this!

7. These caught our Saffron Souk eye…

8. – 10. We stopped and looked (and looked) and chatted our way around the Southern Guild Gallery – this supporter of african design had a hold over us! We loved the detail in this table (8.) and these bronze statues (10. yes can you believe it?) by Justine Mahony were simply gorgeous! As is the cabinet by Doktor & Misses (10.).

11. Playing with Amer Al Dour’s interactive work ‘Analogue Arabesque’

12. Sooo much fun.

13. – 17. Can you tell based on the number of snaps that these completely non-practical but playful sea urchin objects showcased at House of Today Beirut were a Saffron Souk favourite?

18. A Zaha Hadid designed crystal table…

19. – 20. It was a hive of activity around these talented ladies weaving their magic at the Fatima bint Mohamed Initiative (FBMI), Abu Dhabi.

21. – 23. Pure craziness from Dubai based French Design House, Authentique Art & Design.

24. We found this stainless steel & multicolour polymer piece from Zadora, titled ‘Gravity’ got scarier as the scale got smaller…

Thank you Design Days Dubai for making our recent days brighter and a huge thank you to Van Cleef & Arpels, one of the major sponsors that was offering free workshops with some of their amazing Paris based craftsmen – such an incredible opportunity and one that Saffron Souk will be writing home about for some time…
