Looking for a local getaway this summer? Bab Al Shams is the perfect escape for a long weekend no matter what your needs. The pool really is the highlight – not only is it huge but the design has created numerous little spots making it ideal for families in need of entertainment, couples in search of some quiet time and individuals just trying to escape the world!

2. – 6. Bab Al Shams Hotel – an oasis in the desert (cheesy but very true!).

Bab Al Shams is a small boutique desert resort located approximately 40 minutes out of Dubai. Its small scale and very low key setting make it the destination of choice for UAE residents wanting to escape the masses of the city, travelers wanting to get a taste of some arab hospitality and anyone in need of some time out….

7. – 10. The pool is incredible and really is the centre of the holiday experience.

If you are anything like the team at any mention of a trip away means planning the all important pre-holiday wardrobe! We’ve decided to help you out and have taken a browse through the Saffron Souk market to hook you up with some irresistible hot summer style…

11. A cute hat from Hats by Nadege.  12. A light Kaftan by Nera Fashions.  13. One of KeenBags versatile carry-alls.  14.  A handy swimwear pouche from your little collection.  15. Need to keep your phone in a save spot while pool-side? This pouche from your little collection is the perfect organiser and keep-save.

There are some great activities on offer, and many of them are provided free of charge at sunset. So we suggest you pack up your book poolside and have a quick shower before hitting the desert activities, including falconry (16.) and camel riding (17.) followed by a sundowner while watching a desert sunset (18.).

19. Want to wear something regional while soaking up a sundowner at sunset? This sundress made from an Afghani Burqa from Beshtar is the perfect choice. We all know accessories complete and outfit and has lots to choose from. 20. How about this turquoise bracelet from Hayet Zerelli Designs, or these striking bangles from House of Jekoya (21. & 22.). And it you need somewhere to pop your camera after all that action – this tote from Nera Fashions (23.) would be our preferred option!

Al Hadheedrah Restaurant is a must visit dining experience while staying at Bab Al Shams. Set in a traditional fort environment located away from the main hotel, you will not only get a taste of arabic cuisine, but you’ll be entertained all night, including this Tanoura dancer (26.) – you can even have a go yourself if you are brave enough! (27.). To make the experience extra special speak to the staff about organising the short journey on horse back (24. – 25.) – something you will never forget…

Whatever restaurant you choose in the evening (and there are some varied choices at Bab Al Shams!) it is always fun to get a bit dressed up and make an occasion of it! We think this LuLuBare dress (28.) was made for a romantic resort getaway. How about jazzing it up a little with these earrings from House of Jekoya (29.) and this cuff from Hayet Zerelli Designs (31.) and who could resist this clutch from RAW to stash the evening essentials (30.)
